On March 23rd, 2019, our celebration of the Founding of the United States Military Academy and the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Graduates began with the Candidate Reception. Cheryl Connors, Massachusetts State Coordinator for Admissions, welcomed cadet candidates and their parents and guests to the reception. We were honored to have the 14th Dean of the Academic Board, Brigadier Cindy Jebb, address the cadet candidates and parents and also as our guest speaker for the Founder’s Day dinner festivities.
After the Commandant’s remarks to the cadet candidates, representatives of the Affiliation Class of 1973 were introduced and Candidates were then presented with a West Point Society of New England coin. The Candidates, Commandant, Affiliation Class Representative, Massachusetts State Admissions Coordinator and the President of WPSNE then gathered for a picture on the staircase.
Our Society Matriarch, Mrs. Joanne Patton was able to join us this year. Yay!
The beneficiary of the silent auction was Fisher House Boston https://fisherhouseboston.org . Fisher House Boston provides lodging to military families while their loved one is receiving treatment at the VA Medical Center West Roxbury Campus, or any of our world renowned Boston hospitals. This year, WPSNE donated $7,000 to Fisher House Boston from the silent auction proceeds at Founder’s Day.
