Congratulations to Tom Kain!

The 2019 Patton Family Leadership Award winner is Tom Kain who was selected from 5 outstanding candidates from the class of 2020 at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. The award, sponsored by the West Point Society of New England, was presented at the school awards night on 6 June by PFLA Chair COL (Ret) Tom Smith,’71. 

A summary of Tom’s accomplishments follows:

Tom Kain has excelled academically and as a leader in his school. He is a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.15 GPA, and he scored a maximum 36 in the ACT in all areas (math, English, reading, and science). He is class president, captain of the golf team, and plays varsity lacrosse. He led his Mock Trial team to a regional championship and is a captain-elect for next year. In the DECA business program, he attained first place in district and state competitions, and a first place medal at national competition.
Tom participates in the Freshman mentoring program and tutoring for other students. He won a VFW speech competition in 9th grade, and he will attend MA Boys State this summer.

The purpose of the Patton Family Leadership Award is to recognize the outstanding leadership achievements and character of a secondary school student completing his or her junior year at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School.  In making this recognition, it is the intent of the West Point Society of New England to promote the ideals of the United States Military Academy as articulated in the Academy’s motto, “Duty, Honor, Country”.  Additionally, this recognition is intended to further the values ascribed to the Patton family throughout its storied history.
