Congratulations to Elizabeth Gasiorowski!
The 2018 Patton Family Leadership Award winner is Elizabeth Gasiorowski who was selected from 5 outstanding candidates from the class of 2019 at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. The award, sponsored by the West Point Society of New England, was presented at the school awards night on 7 June by PFLA Chair COL (Ret) Tom Smith, ’71, with Mrs, Joanne Patton in attendance.
A summary of Elizabeth’s accomplishments follows:
Elizabeth is an outstanding student, with a weighted GPA above 4.0, and a member of the National Honor Society. She has won National Spanish Awards at Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. She has also won various awards at Massachusetts History Day and is on the school math team.
Elizabeth has been Vice President of her class all 3 years. She is a trumpet player in the Concert Band and Honors Jazz Band, and she has been selected as a soloist. She plays varsity soccer and track, and she has received several coaches and sportsmanship awards. She played varsity soccer as a Freshman, was elected co-captain as a Junior, and will be captain again for her Senior year.
Her volunteer and community service are extensive. Among many, she has been a research assistant at Lahey Hospital, a camp counselor, a writing center tutor, and she is YMCA-certified in First Aid and as a Lifeguard.
The purpose of the Patton Family Leadership Award is to recognize the outstanding leadership achievements and character of a secondary school student completing his or her junior year at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. In making this recognition, it is the intent of the West Point Society of New England to promote the ideals of the United States Military Academy as articulated in the Academy’s motto, “Duty, Honor, Country”. Additionally, this recognition is intended to further the values ascribed to the Patton family throughout its storied history.
