25th Ken Kronlund Charity Golf Classic

The West Point Society of New England hosted the 25th Ken Kronlund Charity Classic, the All Academy Golf Challenge on 22 July  in Stow, MA. The Charity Classic is named in honor of the late Ken Kronlund, USMA ’52 who founded the All Academy Golf Challenge in 1993.

It was a great day for Army as we swept both the All Academy Challenge and the Open as well as all of the contest holes.   Players from USMA, USNA, USCGA, USAFA, ROTC and friends took to the links on a beautiful warm day at Stow Acres Country Club.  The team of Liam O’Connell, ‘82 and Bill Newman, ‘82 won the Challenge, with Chris Boyer, ‘99 and Dale Kurtz, ‘73 finishing second.  Clay Schwabe, ‘02 and his guest Evan Sussman won the Open.  Newman had the low score for the day with Boyer and Sussman tied for second.

The greatest winner of the day was Honor Flight New England!  Honor Flight New England is a charitable organization that transports senior veterans to Washington, DC. to visit the veteran war memorials.  The event raised $3,000.00 which was presented at the post golf luncheon to Joe Byron, Founder/Executive Director of Honor Flight New England by Society President, Dale Kurtz.  Go to http://honorflightnewengland.org to learn more about this organization serving our nation’s veterans.
